Global Warming and Climate Change

Global warming is the most chewed global issue in last couple of days. Global warming is increase in average measured temperature of the earth over the years. The temperature of the earth surface is increase by 1°C in last century & it may shoots up by approximately 1.1 °C to 6.4 °C at the end of the 21st century.

The Earth receives energy from the Sun. Observed that 30% of the energy is reflected by the Earth and remaining 70% is absorbed by land, atmosphere and ocean. Greenhouse gases (water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and chlorofluorocarbons.) produced by fossil fuel burning, prevent most of the outgoing infrared radiation from surface of the atmosphere. Naturally, this turns into increasing atmospheric temperature.

The following diagram will help better understanding climate change.
